UML picks 19 candidates for National Assembly elections

Kathmandu: The main opposition party CPN-UML has finalized candidates for the National Assembly elections. A Secretariat meeting of the party held on Monday picked the names.

The election of the upper house that will elect 19 members is scheduled for January 26 and the deadline for the nomination registration is January 4.

Candidates selected by UML for National Assembly elections:

Open: Devraj Ghimire (Jhapa)
Women: Sumitra Bhandari (Jhapa)
Minority: Sonam Geljen Sherpa (Solukhumbu)

Province 2
Open: Asarfi Bhinwar Yadav (Dhanusha)
Women: Bina Sah (Rautahat)

Bagmati
Open: Gopal Shakya (Lalitpur)
Women: Nirkumari Kunwar (Niru) Darlami (Sindhuli)

Gandaki
Open: Punya Prasad Poudel (Kaski)
Women: Leela Pokharel Thanet (Nawalpur)
Dalit: Govind Bahadur Nepali (Baglung)

Lumbini
