Foreign minister to attend Sri Lanka’s Independence Day function as an honored guest

Kathmandu: Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Bimala Rai Paudyal has left for Sri Lanka to participate in the 75th Independence Day of the island nation. Paudyal was invited by her Sri Lankan counterpart MUM Ali Sabry. In Colombo, Paudyal is scheduled to meet with her counterpart and attend the cultural festival ‘Lankara Lanka’ to be organized by the Presidential Secretariat in Independence Square on February 3, according to the statement issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Minister will attend the 75th Independence Day Celebration functions to be organized at Galle Face Green, pay courtesy calls on the President and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, and attend the reception hosted by President of Sri Lanka at the President’s House on February 4.  She is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on February 5.

This is the first foreign trip of Foreign Minister after she took office on January 17.
